UPDATE, OCT 29, 2017: YES, We are having a Doll Show!
The Redwood Empire Doll Club has been sponsoring a Doll Show for over 30 years at the Santa Rosa Veterans Memorial Building in Santa Rosa, California. For 15 years we have used our show to fund raise for the Living Room Center, a day shelter for homeless women and children, who more than ever need funds to help assist the newly displaced fire victims. This year the 2017 show came dangerously close to being cancelled because of the Sonoma County fires. For three weeks the building we rent for our show has been used as an evacuation and distribution center for fire victims but last Thursday the Red Cross found better housing for the displaced, closed the evacuation center at the Veterans Building and the thousands of donated items were moved to other locations. So the Vetrerans Memorial Building has returned to normal operations, all the roads are open that lead to the building and the show will go on as planned.
In the spirit of #Sonomastrong, this year we are not charging our normal admission. Instead we are simply asking attendees to donate what they can to the Living Room Center in Santa Rosa.
We hope doll friends and their families will support our community by coming to the show. Three of our doll friends lost their homes--our past president of Redwood Empire, a couple that have plans to reopen Ruthies Doll Museum in Willets, California, and a paper doll enthusiast who meets regularly with many club members. All of our members had either family or friends that lost their home and escaped with their lives. Several of our members had to leave their homes due to evacuations. It has been very stressful on the entire county so we really look forward to a fun event that we have been planning for a year. We hope the community at large will come out to share our hobby and support the Living Room Center..

Our Doll Show brings together collectors and experts who exchange information about antique, vintage, modern and miniature doll makers and artists. We are a charter club of United Federation of Doll Clubs (also known as UFDC.) We promote research, conservation and history of dolls. Much of this research correlates with Women's History in fashion, business and childrearing.  We also fundraise for The Living Room in Santa Rosa, CA with our Helper Tables at the Doll Show.
